LED lights save electricity, control pests and diseases, and help farmers get rid of lychee moths. Farmers no longer use pesticides, but use light at night to minimize pest activity according to pest habits. This non-environmental control method is as efficient as 95%.
The night sky is full of stars, but this is actually a lychee garden. The weak LED light sources have a great effect on the prevention and control of lychee moths.
A researcher from the Fengshan Branch of the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute introduced that the lychee moth is most afraid of blue light and green light. As long as there is such light, the pests will hurry to hide.
The chairman of the board of directors of Fangjing Cooperative said that a single lychee moth can damage more than one cent of land. We only use lights and no pesticides at all. The damage rate of lychee moth is about 1%. This year we have an area of more than 1 hectare, just turn on the lights, no need to spray like others.
The director of the Fengshan Branch of the Agricultural Research Institute said that compared with the exposure of chemical agents, we think that the impact of light on the environment is slightly less.
At present, the Agricultural Research Institute has conducted LED tests on 2 hectares of orchards, showing that the control rate of lychee moths exceeds 95%. It is hoped that physical control can achieve pesticide reduction and protect farmers' efforts.
